All things Manchester United 2015/2016

2nd September 2015
I was still skeptical of Man U's credential even after the big win over Brugge in the second leg of the CL qualifier. As I said before, I don't think we can use Brugge as a gauge of the team's progress. Rooney scored a hattrick but still manages a big zero in the PL.

The forwards have not done their job. Putting just 3 (including 1 own goal) past the opposition after 4 games is just so NOT Manchester United. I said Swansea at the Liberty is one big banana skin. Oh man! this wasn't just any banana skin, it's kulit pisang tanduk!

Liverpool on match day 5. Looking forward to this one only because of the intense rivalry between the two. On the evidence of the lame showing of the two sides thus far and Liverpool missing Philippe Coutinho, I am not expecting too much of good football though. As far as football is concerned I think you will be forgiven to think that it is a match between Scunthorpe United Vs Doncaster Rovers.

Newcastle, I thought three games in, this is the better performance compared to the first two, especially in the second half we should have ran away with the 3 points. Anyway, that's football; sometimes you don't get what you deserve and at others you get more than what you deserve.

Come May next year, will we be the PL champion? Unlikely. There's still 35 games to go but if the last three games is any indication, perhaps the rebuilding is not quite complete yet. Top three maybe? The cups are the best chance of ending the trophy drought. This is not going to be easy either as I am sure Rodgers, Wenger and a few others are thinking the same.

As of the new hires:
  1. Memphis Depay
I think this is a good buy although I also think this is going to be a case of Vidic/Evra. Will struggle to keep pace and the physicality of the PL but he'll come good soon. The Brugge game is a good indication of his ability although Brugge hardly gave the same tight physical combat as the likes of Stoke or West Brom is going to provide.
  2. Morgan Schneiderlin
He's performing as expected but then he's been fighting the same war for many years now, just with different comrades now.
  3. Matteo Darmian
I never watched him in the Serie A but was impressed looking at him playing for Italy. I thought this is going to be another Vidic/Evra scenario but in my opinion this is one of the pleasant surprises.
  4. Bastian Schweinsteiger
Good buy but at the moment I don't think he can last the 90. So, he's going to be switching places at half time with Michael Carrick. Carrick doesn't look able to last the 90 either.
  5. Sergio Romero
I have no idea. In the first game he looks sharp though, but I also feel that he tend to get caught in some lapse of concentration.
The season has provided some surprises too as far as MU is concerned.

  1. Rooney - anonymous so far. Probably should switch places with Hernandez or Wilson i.e. Rooney comes in as a sub instead of starting. Probably will jolt some sense into the guy.
  2. Young - After last year's performance which was rewarded with a new contract, it is really a kesian case watching him on the bench but looks like he's going to be playing second fiddle to Memphis for a while now.
  3. Shaw - I think he's starting to show why MU paid Southampton that much for his services.
  4. Blind - Quite efficient but I am really afraid when he comes up against faster forwards in the next 35 games.

Swansea away next; now this is going to be a real banana skin.Lepas tu Liverpool!!! Yaay!
